The Body and Performance provides performers with intensive in-studio training, mentorship through independent projects and public showcasing. This is for actors and dancers who wish to create their own work and expand the aesthetics of the body in performance.

Foundation in ensemble practice, voice & breath, acting basics and contemporary dance. Groundedness, momentum, spirals, presence and softness. Switching on your awareness & physical aliveness, this intensive opens the body, builds skill, stamina, flexibility and range.

Extending sensitivity within into contact with others
Rick Nodine leads his signature approach into understanding Contact Improvisation, and improvised performance - entering the movement through Feldenkrais's method - developing internal awareness of how movement originates, evolves and travels. The awareness of movement pathways inside the body extends to awareness of others and enriches observation and understanding of contact between bodies.

Inspired gathering of multiple contact improvisation teachers
This annual gathering of Contact Improvisers is a highlight on the Arambol cultural scene. This is optional for full time B&P students, but highly recommended and included in full-programme fee. Body work, somatics, multiple workshops, an interantional gathering of performers and dancers from all over the world.

These 5 days are an intense burst of martial art training combined with an introduction to Neutral Mask. We explore the archetypal structure of the hero's journey as it relates to the personal, social, political, historical. and 5 day emotional and personal story.

The Clown in Melodrama
Amy Russel, founder of Embodied Poetics and co-founder of LISPA will lead an embodied writing workshop to explore the absurdity, vulnerability, and narrative possibility of clown-logic in the sentimental, morally authoratitive, landscape of Melodrama.

Tragedy, Myth & Heroic Journey
Deepens creative capabilities through developing both melodramtic and tragic story structures, chorus and ensemble skill. Contemporary dance training goes deeper physical analysis of the spiral and how this can be used to fly and fall in to and out of the floor. an choreographic expression of darker forces and emotions.

Clown, Physical Comedy & Choreography
The profound and vulnerable craft of clown is explored along side wild, high-energy and avaricious form of Commedia dell’arte. The games and failures, direct audience relationship, play with rhythm, the ridiculous as well as human frailty deepens performer-creators' sensitivity, range and authenticity.
These two weeks are split between comic training and contemporary dance - in which the dance syllabus concludes with a co-created choreography.
